Shruthi
In Carnatic music, shruti is the smallest interval of pitch that the human ear can detect and a musical instrument can produce. It is the foundation for creating melodies and ragas, and is considered to be the musical "pitch" or position of a note. Shruti is also known as the smallest frequency difference between any two notes that the ear can recognize.
śruti, (Sanskrit: “heard”), in the music of India and Pakistan, the smallest tonal interval that can be perceived. The octave, in Indian theory, is divided into 22 śrutis.
